The love for another is one of life’s great pursuits. Maria Walley, founder of Daelia’s Food Company, discovered one of hers in specialty cheese. What better gift could she give to her love than the perfect companion – one that doesn’t overwhelm it or fall apart under pressure? One that simply made it better. Inspired by age-old Mediterranean recipes, she found that companion in twice baked biscuits made with  roasted nuts, hand-picked fruits and oven-baked bread. With that discovery, Daelia’s Biscuits for Cheese was born.

Finding the perfect match wasn’t born out of luck or chance. It came from years of discovering the wines, crackers, breads, fruits and nuts served with cheeses around the world. Maria explored them all when she opened her specialty food and wine retail shop in Cincinnati, Ohio’s affluent Hyde Park neighborhood in the early 1990s.

After successfully launching her store, Maria developed an acute expertise in the industry, which led her to starting the Hyde Park Specialty Food Marketing Group, a food brokerage and consulting company. She expanded her network and deepened her knowledge while working as a consultant to many major players in the industry.

Developing those relations soon led Maria to Cheese from Britain, a sales and marketing organization with a focus on developing retail business for fine cheese producers and exporters across the United Kingdom. She set up the company’s first offices in the United States and managed them for seven years.

In 2007, the first seeds of Daelia’s Biscuits for Cheese were planted, and by early 2009, the company was ready to start production. The almond flavor debuted on October 1, 2009 in Whole Foods Market stores across the country.

With unprecedented acceptance, foodies in Whole Foods and specialty stores across the country and beyond have embraced Daelia’s Biscuits for Cheese. Maria’s commitment to producing the biscuits in small batches from all natural ingredients – figs, raisins and almonds from California and grains and flour from the Midwest – allow her to consistently offer the highest quality product possible to customers.

Maria started Daelia’s with the vision that one little biscuit could transform the age-old experience of enjoying cheese. With more flavors in development, it would seem that many others share that vision and passion. Daelia’s Biscuits for Cheese… Like no other.
